I’m a very outgoing person and I love to meet a lot of new people. I
keep in touch with most of my friends from high school, and in spring
every year we organize a big party with 30 or more people where everyone
invites their own group of friends, and the number keeps growing every
year. Not all of us are big on making event plans, especially not me,
but we share that responsibility and every year, different few people
are in charge of pretty much anything concerning organization of the
party.
This year, the guest list was up to me. What I dreaded most wasn’t
making lists or figuring out seating arrangements, it was the process of
actually inviting people. I racked my brains for days and delayed the
process until the very last moment, because I simply couldn’t sort out
the best way to do it.
Texting or emailing each person would take forever, plus it would
take an insane amount of texting back and forth to fortify the plan with
each person, so that was out of the question. Making dozens of phone
calls to invite everyone would take even longer so I struck that option
out, too. And I know, sending a group email seems like the best idea,
but I definitely did not want to do that because it’s just too
impersonal. And then I figured it out.
My company recently started using a desktop emailing application
called Desktop Mailer. While at first I didn’t think I’d need one for
personal use, I decided that this was the time to try it, and I was
right. Desktop Mailer enabled me to send that party invitation to
everyone at once, but in a much better way than via a simple group
email. I was able to send a personalized message and every recipient got
an email addressing them directly, by name. Instead of a “Dear
everyone” email, all of my friends received a personalized email
intended specifically for them, and I never had to send 30 emails. It
saved me a ton of time, and a huge headache.
My amazement didn’t end there. I realized that the app offered
real-time analytics, which meant that I could track the email I send,
see when each person reads the email and get an immediate feedback on
how many people I could count on. I was then able to send a
personalized, premade template email, which I was able to design myself,
to their responses notifying me that they would or wouldn’t come to the
party.
Another awesome feature is that I could create a separate contact
list for every group of friends and that I’m now able to send
personalized emails to entire groups of contacts without selecting them
one by one.
I obviously use the app all the time now. All I have to do to access
my email account is to double-click the Desktop Mailer icon on my
desktop and set everything up the way I like it. All my contacts and
emails stay right there and they are never ever uploaded to a third
party server.
I encourage everyone to visit the official website and give Desktop Mailer a try. I promise you, it’s a lifesaver!
